🌿 CHICHIBU RYOKAN – PART 3

In the early morning, at exactly 7 a.m., our breakfast was quietly placed in front of our door. A gentle start to the day, and once again, it was included in our stay. 🍱

We enjoyed a traditional Jubako breakfast, a hearty homemade meal typical of the Chichibu area. Seasonal vegetables grown in the surrounding nature, simple flavors, carefully prepared. The kind of breakfast that feels grounding and nourishing, both for the body and the mind.

Then came the moment to leave...
One last slow walk through town.
One last stop to feed the colorful carps.
A quick visit to the souvenir shop.
As tradition demands, a local craft to bring home.
And somewhere along the way… a new skill unlocked.

Finally, we boarded our favourite train for the ride back home.
For 90 minutes, everyone relaxed in their own way. Watching the scenery pass, resting, thinking, doing nothing at all. 🚆

Another quiet escape. Simple, peaceful, and exactly what we needed.

🌿 CHICHIBU RYOKAN – PART 2

Our ryokan stay came with a lovely little bonus: a local passport offering small gifts and discounts in selected shops around Chichibu.
Sadly, we arrived a bit too late to use it—but I really loved the idea. It’s such a nice way to encourage slow travel and support local businesses. 🎟️

Instead, we stuck to one of our must-do rituals whenever we’re here… Japan’s best taiyaki. Crispy on the outside, warm and comforting inside—always worth it. 🐟✨

Then the weather decided to change everything. The rain came pouring down, hard. So off we went to the nearest konbini to grab umbrellas before heading back to the ryokan.

And honestly… perfect timing.
Our private onsen was waiting for us. ♨️
45 minutes, just the three of us, included with our stay. It went by far too fast—but it felt incredibly relaxing and peaceful.

When we stepped outside, the rain had stopped. The streets were completely empty, shiny from the rain, calm and silent. We took a slow walk through town before going back to sleep—one of those quiet moments you don’t forget. 🌙

🌿 CHICHIBU RYOKAN - PART.1

After arriving at Chichibu Station, we were greeted by the local mascot and immediately treated ourselves to artisanal ice cream. With the summer heat, it was exactly what we needed. 🍦

We then made our way through the quiet streets of Chichibu, a place we’ve visited many times and always love for its calm atmosphere and gentle pace.

At our accommodation, we were welcomed with refreshing iced tea before being driven to our house for the night. It was only a short walk, but in that heat, the ride was very much appreciated. ☀️

Our stay was in a beautifully restored house built in 1928, once an inn for travelling merchants. Today, reborn as Wakukan Tazu, it continues the same spirit—offering a place to slow down, relax, and feel at home. 🏡

With no real plans, we ended the day wandering through town, enjoying the stillness and letting Chichibu set the rhythm. Sometimes, that’s all you need. 🌙
