Spending Christmas in Japan as a French Family

🎄DECEMBER 2025_

For the first time in years, we had a long Christmas break here in Tokyo — and we truly made the most of it.

As a family living in Japan, we slowed down, stayed close to home at first, then mixed simple pleasures with unforgettable experiences. From cosy cafés and bowling lanes to magical movie sets, peaceful mountain ryokans, and immersive digital art, this video is a quiet capsule of our December holidays.

  • ☕ Café & Bowling – simple moments close to home

We started the holidays locally with a slow coffee at one of our favourite spots. While my home team practised strategy, I enjoyed my drink without understanding a single rule. Then came bowling — our daughter’s first time, a bit of rust for us, and lots of laughs.

  • 🪄 Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo

As lifelong fans, visiting the studios never gets old. Each time, we notice new details, learn more behind-the-scenes secrets, and rediscover the magic all over again.

  • ♨️ Ryokan stay in Chichibu – a 24-hour reset

We returned to a small ryokan near Tokyo for Christmas. Surrounded by mountains, with private onsens and seasonal food, it was a peaceful break completely disconnected from city life — exactly what we needed.

  • 🎨 TeamLab Planets – an immersive finale

To end the holidays, our daughter asked for TeamLab Planets. With over twenty new artworks, we spent hours wandering slowly through the installations, fully immersed. The perfect way to close our Christmas break.

Thank you so much for spending these moments with us. We wish you a very happy New Year 2026, and we’ll see you in the next video.
