Walking Through Tokyo’s Secret Valley in Setagaya

Tokyo is one of the world’s biggest cities — yet hidden between buildings and train lines, you can still find places that feel completely untouched by time.

In this video, I take you to Todoroki Valley, the only natural valley in Tokyo’s 23 wards. Just a few minutes from the station, this quiet path follows a small river through dense greenery, moss-covered stones, and shaded forest.

Although part of the main trail is currently closed due to fallen trees, you can still explore the Japanese garden, visit the Chigo Daishi statue, climb the steps to Todoroki Fudoson Temple, and slow down at a traditional tea house overlooking the river.

I stopped at Setsugekka, a small tea house where I enjoy a matcha set with a seasonal sweet, sitting on tatami and listening to the water flow outside.

🌿 A peaceful break from the city, without ever leaving Tokyo.

This walk is perfect if you’re looking for calm, nature, and a different side of Tokyo — far from crowds and noise.

Thank you for watching!
